What I do at KF Aerospace:

 

I work at KF Aerospace as an Aircraft Services Trainee. I remove and inspect interior furnishings of passenger aircraft, such as seats, carpets, galleys and other interior components.
I then may inspect and clean these interior furnishings.
Lastly the re-installation of the cleaned and inspected interior furnishings.

What fuels me in my work? 

I get to work with some of the most amazing people I have ever met in my life. It’s the people of KF Aerospace that make me (personally) love coming to work every day. This also makes me want to work harder and learn more so I can be like the people I admire.

Key achievements with KF 

Started in the Tool Crib and worked my way up to the position of Interior Technician

What I do at KF Aerospace:

 

Design, certification and project management of various avionics and cabin interior upgrades.

What fuels me in my work?

 

Every day is a new challenge. Working on a wide variety of aircraft and projects keeps my mind active and makes the job more interesting and enjoyable.

Key achievements with KF:

 

Completed approvals for installing various systems on aircraft from TCAS to installing glass cockpits to LOPAs. Working at KF Aerospace has given me the opportunity to be on a path towards obtaining my Delegation with Transport Canada.

Interests:

Hiking, biking, volunteering, FOOD, coffee and travel.

Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Mechanic – AME-M

What I do at KF Aerospace:

 

I am working as part of a Heavy Maintenance crew at the YHM base, and have also worked in the Line Maintenance department. As a mechanic I complete various aircraft inspections, preventative maintenance, and defect rectifications.

What fuels me in my work?

 

Continually expanding my knowledge of aircraft and their extensive systems. Learning is a daily task and keeps me motivated to improve my abilities. Also, having great coworkers plays a large part in enjoying what I do.

Key achievements with KF:

 

Completed apprenticeship and attained my AME-M license. Assisted in retrieving AOG aircraft.

Interests:

Sports (hockey, golf, soccer, snowboarding, pretty much everything), music, movies, nature, and most of all, being a new dad.

What I do at KF Aerospace:

 

I oversee a group of the most talented modification, repair and overhaul technicians in the industry. Together we provide our customers with quality products and services. I am very fortunate to work with such talent.

What fuels me in my work?

 

The satisfaction of a job well done. When I have exceeded the expectations of those around me.

Key achievements with KF:

 

Bolivian T-33 AUP prototype aircraft - A small team and I saw this project from conception, to build up, to successful delivery to the Bolivian Air Force. To be involved in a project like this so early in my career left quite an impression on me, it was very fulfilling.

Interests:

Good friends, good food, good drink …and of course play time with our monster 18lb Chihuahua

Phase 1 Instructor Supervisor

What I do at KF Aerospace:

 

I supervise half of the Phase 1 Instructors in Portage la Prairie and am also an instructor on the Phase 1 program. Together we teach the fundamentals of flight to officers in the RCAF. Several times a year we also teach the Lead In Air Navigation Course to Navigators.

What fuels me in my work?

 

Working with coworkers and students that are enthusiastic about flight training. It is intrinsically motivating to see your student progress in a short amount of time from having never flown an airplane before to soloing, flying aerobatics and successfully completing a flight test.

Key achievements with KF:

 

Earned Transport Canada Class 1 Flight Instructor Rating to improve instructional delivery.

Interests:

Family, flying, Stephen King novels, card making and scrapbooking, airshows, and lattes.

Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Mechanic – AME-M

What I do at KF Aerospace:

 

I am currently working on the WestJet SMV (scheduled maintenance visit) heavy/overhaul program on B737NGs. It is a fast paced, nose to tail, maintenance program that keeps everyone on our toes.

I have been involved in many projects in my ten years at KF Aerospace ranging from line maintenance to heavy overhaul checks on aircraft such as the Convair 580, Boeing 727-200, B737-400, -500, -600, -700, -800,B757 and B767.

What fuels me in my work?

 

People fuel me in my work. Knowing that I am involved in an industry to allows people to get to where they want to be safely and on time, and that lets people ship things anywhere in the world that they need, gives me a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction every day.

Key achievements with KF:

 

While working at KF Aerospace I havecompleted my AME Apprenticeship and qualified for my Transport Canada M2 AME license. I have received a Boeing 737NG endorsement, along with training and RII inspection qualifications for several of our customers. Ihave beena member of the Health and Safety Committee for the past 3 years which I feel strongly is a key part of aviation.

Interests:

My family and friends, hiking, walking, sightseeing, movies, reading, and anything to get me out and enjoy the Okanagan.

Health and Safety Coordinator

What I do at KF Aerospace:

 

As the Health and Safety Coordinator I am responsible for the development, implementation and administration of all Occupational Health and Safety Programs and workplace injury disability management in the KF group. Some of my roles are:
• Ensure investigations of incidents and near misses are undertaken and to follow up on all incident reports
• Coordinate with the Training Department to ensure appropriate safety training is available and provided to all employees
• Maintain and enhance company health and safety manuals
• Health and Safety presentation during new employee orientation
• Conduct periodic base inspections and work practice audits
• Ensure employees have the proper safety materials necessary for the job
• Chair the Kelowna Safety Committee and assist and support all other base Safety Committees
• Conduct tours of the Kelowna facilities
• Respond to daily Health and Safety issues and questions

What fuels me in my work?

 

Helping our employees overcome a workplace incident and getting them back to work.

 Key achievements with KF

I feel over the past couple of years the overall safety awareness at KF has really improved but key achievements wouldbe the implementation of the Kelowna base fire plan as well as improvements that have been made in the areas of paint and fall protection. But really, that is just my job. For me a true achievement is getting people back to work faster. I know what it is like to not be able to work due to a workplace injury. I have been there. I understand what they go through.
