Defence Programs

KF Aerospace has a long and proud tradition of supporting military aviation programs, from heavy maintenance and avionics upgrades for the Canadian Forces fleet of Cosmo CC109 aircraft to heavy maintenance checks and substantial avionics upgrades to the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) fleet of T-33 trainers.

Extending this rich tradition, in March 2009 KF Aerospace was assigned the contract to complete extended life cycle support for the RCAF fleet of DHC-5 (CC-115) Buffalo and the DHC-6 (CC-138) Twin Otter and their components. This support includes modernization, manufacture, testing, air-worthiness approval, and logistics support. Our unique solutions are offered to all operators of these uniquely capable aircraft around the world.

A total of fifteen inspections on CC115 Buffalo aircraft and 12 inspections on CC138 Twin Otters have passed through KF Aerospace’s hangar doors.

Since being assigned the contract, KF Aerospace has embedded personnel for long and short periods of time in Ottawa, Comox and Yellowknife providing Technical Management assistance and Mobile Repair Party services including activities such as NDT, Structural Repairs, Maintenance and Obsolescence planning and management.

In June 2013 KF Aerospace was granted full recognition as a Design Approval Organization (DAO) by DND’s Technical Airworthiness Authority. This capability has streamlined our turn around times on aircraft and components.

Our commitment to providing an attentive professional service with a reputation for quality, safety, responsiveness, and integrity was recognized during a SAR exercise in March of 2013.  This acknowledgement is in direct relation to the knowledge, skills and teamwork of the employees of KF Aerospace.

KF Aerospace has enhanced our capabilities:

  • Spot and Seam welding
  • Full DND ERP (DRMIS) implementation and multi -operator qualifications
  • Full time Aircraft Maintenance Control and Records offices for maintaining DND Fleet maintenance activities and planning,
