Grand Opening of YMCA Child Care Centre Expansion
May 26, 2026
Last week, we were proud to attend the grand opening of the expanded Kelowna Airport YMCA Child Care Centre, marking an important investment in childcare accessibility for families in our community.
The celebration brought together community and business leaders, including KF’s Human Resources Director Anne Downie, YLW Airport CEO Sam Samaddar, Kelowna Mayor Tom Dyas, Kelowna MP Stephen Fuhr, and YMCA Director Manik Dhir, who officially opened the new space with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The 24-space expansion increases the daycare’s total capacity to 110 childcare spaces, helping support working families and addressing the growing need for childcare options in the region.
For KF, supporting initiatives like this goes beyond the workplace. Access to reliable childcare plays a critical role in helping employees maintain a healthy work-life balance and thrive both professionally and personally.
“I know first-hand how important it is to support our people beyond just the day-to-day work environment, and these initiatives are the way that we can do that,” said Anne Downie. “It helps us provide and ensure our employees have a proper work-life balance.”
We’re proud to support this initiative and the positive impact it will have on employees, families, and the broader Kelowna community.
