KF Aerospace Embraces Electric Tugs with Support from the Integrated Marketplace
July 22, 2025
At KF, we’re always looking for ways to operate more efficiently and sustainably — and our latest investment in electric ground equipment at our YVR base is a strong step forward.
Thanks to our ongoing relationship with Hallor Group, we were early testers of their Green Ox electric tug during its development. When we heard about the opportunity to receive funding through the Integrated Marketplace, we saw a chance to upgrade our fleet of tugs while supporting green innovation.
We’re proud to be one of the eight organizations receiving a share of $3.38 million through the Integrated Marketplace, which helps advance innovation across B.C.’s key industries.
Through this program — funded by Innovate BC, Pacific Economic Development Canada, and the Province of BC — we were able to acquire two brand-new Green Ox tugs. Built in Kelowna and delivered to YVR in late 2024, these electric tugs support our ongoing efforts to reduce emissions and operate more sustainably.

The Green Ox tugs offer a variety of benefits for both the environment and daily operations at KF.
Since integrating these new tugs, we’ve become skilled at troubleshooting and working out any minor issues that we’ve experienced – we even helped Hallor solve an icing issue by prototyping a vent modification that’s now part of their design.
This is just one part of a broader sustainability push at KF. In addition to our YVR upgrades, our YHM base also received two electric tugs last year, and we recently upgraded four GPUs to new Tier 4 engines. We’ll continue working to improve our operations while reducing our environmental impact.
Together, we can keep advancing sustainable innovation – one great idea at a time.
