KF Aerospace Delivers First Custom 737-800 Combi Aircraft for Air Inuit

October 27, 2025

KF Aerospace is proud to announce the successful completion of the first Boeing 737-800 combi aircraft for Air Inuit, marking a major fleet modernization milestone for the airline. The extensive conversions were carried out at KF’s Kelowna facility, showcasing the engineering team’s expertise in delivering complex, customized aircraft solutions.

The dual-role aircraft are designed to transport both passengers and cargo efficiently on Air Inuit’s northern jet routes, enhancing operational flexibility and supporting vital air service to remote communities. These converted Boeing 737-800s will replace older airframes in the fleet, offering increased capacity, modern avionics, and improved fuel efficiency.

“This project reflects our deep commitment to helping customers like Air Inuit meet their unique operational needs,” says Gregg Evjen, President of KF Aerospace. “The successful delivery of these aircraft is a testament to the capabilities of our engineering, manufacturing, and modification teams, who continue to deliver high quality, tailored solutions in support of Canada’s regional carriers.”

The custom combi conversions involved significant structural and systems modifications, including the installation of a main deck cargo door, smoke detection, fire suppression system, rigid smoke barrier, and changes to the cargo compartment — while maintaining comfortable seating for passengers. These enhancements ensure the aircraft are compliant with modern safety regulations while meeting the rigorous demands of Arctic operations.

KF’s engineering department played a vital role in the project, designing significant modifications to structures including the main deck cargo door.

“Creating unique solutions to cater to unique needs is part of Air Inuit’s DNA. Together with KF Aerospace, we are modernizing northern jet air services with our main focus of better serving Nunavik’s people,” says Christian Busch, President and CEO of Air Inuit.

KF Aerospace’s ability to deliver such technically advanced projects reinforces its position as a leader in aircraft modification and fleet support across Canada and beyond.
