CT-102B Astra II (Grob G 120TP-A) Completes Successful First Test Flight
July 25, 2025
Congratulations to our partners at SkyAlyne and the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) on the successful first test flight of the first CT-102B Astra II (Grob G 120TP-A)!
The CT-102B Astra II is one of five aircraft selected to support pilot training for the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) through the SkyAlyne-led Future Aircrew Training (FAcT) program.
The test flight took place at Grob Aircraft’s facility in Tussenhausen-Mattsies, Germany, and lasted approximately 30 minutes. The flight profile included a series of functional tests of the engine, aircraft systems, and flight controls.

Based on the proven Grob G 120TP-A platform, the CT-102B Astra II is powered by the Rolls-Royce M250-B17F turbine engine, delivering up to 456 shaft horsepower. This lightweight, agile, and responsive aircraft is capable of performing the aerobatic maneuvers required for RCAF ab-initio training.
Deliveries of the CT-102B fleet will take place over the next three years, with the first two aircraft scheduled to arrive in Canada this September. This milestone marks the latest in Grob Aircraft’s continued support of air forces around the world.
